211 – Friday The 13th

It’s time to go camping! Yup, despite being the middle of October, we’re going out to pitch a tent!

With our hockey masks in tow, we’re going to spend some time with our favorite unstoppable killing machine buddy, Jason Voorhees. Starting in 1980 and then hoping into the time machine to fast forward to 2009. All the campers will die.

How will these two films match up? You’ll have to take a trip to Crystal Lake to find out!

210 – IT

What’s that, Georgie? You’re looking for your little toy boat? Well, We’ve got it right here. You can find it in this episode of ’40 Going On 14′!

That’s right, this is ‘It’ folks! The episode you’ve been waiting for. We’re going to take a trip down into the sewers with Pennywise the Dancing Clown, as we discuss his different incarnations.

209 – Frankensteins

We all know the story. A crack of lightning, a madman and a creature brought back to life. However, you may not know these takes on this classic tale. What am I referring to? Why, Frankenstein’s monster, of course!

For this first episode of OctoBoo, we’re taking on ‘Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein’ and ‘Victor Frankenstein’. Two variations on the monster’s origin story.

Gather your spare parts and a little electricity and let’s bring back the dead!

208 – Freaky Fridays

Have you ever wanted to switch bodies with someone? Even if it was just for a day? If I learned anything at all this week, it’s that a set of fortune cookies or a simple wish, can make this happen!

That’s right, kids, we’re doing a ‘Freaky Friday’ show! The lads from ’40 Going On 14′ are not swapping their bodies, but they are swapping their thoughts on the original film and the latter remake.

You guessed it, we’re doing the ‘Wonder Woman’ show! Diana Prince is in the house and ready to lasso the truth out of the boys. What did they think about the original series and what are their thoughts on the recent film?

Radio has been a part of our lives, for decades. Ever since we were growing up, all of us listened to it and had our favorite stations. For the first week in SubTember, we’re turning the dial on the wayback machine and talking about the radio!

Joining us for this first week, is our old friend, Mark. We’ll be discussing all things FM and AM, since we were angst filled youths, up until today, as angst filled adults.

203 – Trainspotting

Can we make a movie about drug abuse and death funny? Well, somehow with this episode, we answer that question!

202 – The Snack Food Show

Well, lunch was a couple of hours ago and dinner is still a ways off. What should I do? SNACKS! That’s right, kids, we’re doing a show all about those in between little morsels of happiness.

Sweet to Savory. New choices and old. We are picking up a little bit of everything for this weeks show, while trying to avoid reading the nutritional contents on the side of the packaging.

Our belts may need to be loosened a bit after this show. It’s time for a snack!

201 – New Who

What’s that noise? It’s the TARDIS dematerializing again! However, this time the boys from ’40 Going On 14′ are joining the new era of Doctors on the second half of this 2 part ‘Doctor Who’ spectacular!

While none of us may ever be a companion in real life, for the second half of this 2 part event, we’re going to be as close as we’ll ever get. Part 2 contains the 9th through 13th Doctors and beyond. We’re also taking on more pinnacle episodes, the history of the series reboot, along with the new villains and new companions!

It’s going to be fantastic! Allons-y!

200 – Doctor Who Classic

What’s that noise? It’s the TARDIS dematerializing, as the boys from ’40 Going On 14′ are joining the Doctor on a two part MEGA adventure!

While none of us may ever be a companion in real life, for the first of this 2 part event, we’re going to be as close as we’ll ever get. Part 1 contains the first 8 Doctors, as we’re taking on pinnacle episodes, the history of the show, villains and companions!

199 – Power Rangers

Ay Yi Yi! It’s the Power Rangers show! The boys have assembled the red, green, blue, yellow, black and pink rangers and we’ve got our Zords, locked and loaded. We’re taking on Rita Repulsa and her Puddies in this Zordon approved episode.

If you’ve been wondering how the recent movie compared to the original run of the series, then this is the episode you’ve been waiting for!

198 – Summertime

197 – Captain Harlock

Pirates have been the stuff of legends for decades. But there’s one pirate that stands out above them all. Not only is he the definition of piracy, but one that travels through space!

This week, we’re taking a trip on the Arcadia, through the animated world of Captain Harlock. From the pages of Japanese manga, onto television screens in the early days of anime, up to modern times with a full length CGI movie. Harlock has done it all.

Hop aboard and let’s fight our way to freedom!

196 – Desserts

We’ve done a lot of food shows, since we started ’40 Going On 14′. All of the various courses have been covered, but there’s one thing we’ve continually failed to miss. Desert!

For this episode, all of us have eaten our fill of everything else and are ready for something sweet. Whether it’s cookies or cakes or pies, oh my!

If you tend to drool over the end of every meal, then it’s time to have your just deserts!

195 – Pete’s Dragons

When we were kids, we all wanted a pet dragon. If not a pet dragon, then some kind of magical friend that would stay by our side and keep us safe. Disney fulfilled that wish, with the original ‘Pete’s Dragon’. In 2016, they remade it, but for a more modern generation of kids.

On our newest episode, we’re going to hop on the back of the world’s most famous big, green dragon. We’re also going to learn about Robert Redford and his love of horses.

What more can you ask for?

194 – The Hannibal Show

What do you pair human liver with? That’s one of the many topics will discuss this week, as we sink our teeth into ‘The Silence of the Lambs’ and the more recent ‘Hannibal’ television series.

From Thomas Harris’ mind was born one of the most iconic characters of our time. Hannibal Lector leaps from the pages of his various books and took on a life of his own. As the years go on, he seems to be only growing in popularity.

The gang at ’40 Going On 14′ have set the table for dinner and it’s time to say grace. Let’s eat!

193 – Morgan Freeman

Who has the most recognizable voice in Hollywood? Why none other than the honorable
Morgan Freeman. Not only is he a prolific actor, who never phones in a performance, he’s also a genuine class act. That’s not something that can be said for most actors in tinsel town.

This week, we’re paying homage to the man, the myth, the legend.

If you’ve ever seen or heard anything in the media, then you’re probably familiar with Mr. Freeman’s work. On this very special episode, we’re celebrating his entire catalog.

192 – Piranhas!

What’s the next best thing? Piranha’s! Jump right in, the water’s fine. The boys from ’40 Going On 14′ are preparing to do battle with hordes of tiny, man eating fish!

Joe Dante started it all and Alexandre Aja picked up the torch and ran with it. How dangerous can tiny little fish be? You’ll have to listen in to find out!
