LA LA LA

183 – Beauty & The Beast TV

It’s a scary world we live in. It’s even scarier when you’re nearly killed due to mistaken identity! Luckily, there are other monsters out lurking, that will rescue you and quietly stalk you to ensure that you’re okay at night.

What am I talking about?

Why ‘Beauty and the Beast’, of course! This week, it’s all about Catherine and Vincent. A love story for the ages…. with occasional action sequences.

Now, what was that about NASCAR?

151 – Ghostbusters!

Ray Parker Jr ain’t afraid of no ghosts.

Are you?

This week, we’ll find out if the guys are! They’re talking about the original ‘Ghostbusters’ and the brand new remake. Despite all of the ongoing controversy, they’re going to strap on their proton packs, zip up their flight suits and trap Slimer one more time. It’s the ‘Ghostbusters’ show!

Who you gonna call? Holtzman of course. Just admit it, we’re all crushing on Holtzman.

145 – Voltrons!

Activate interlock…. dynotherms connected…. mega thrusters are go! It’s the Voltron show!

If you were a child of the 80’s, then you grew up dreaming of piloting one of the 5 Voltron lions. This week, we’re rocketing ourselves into the far universe to defend the universe from King Zarkon and his ro-beasts! We’re talking about the original 1984, classic vs the 2016 Netflix/Dreamworks reboot and everything in between.

If you love giant robots, then this is the show for you! Even Sven gets a little love.

139 – Escapes From Witch Mountains

If your planet is dying, what is the best course of action to sustain life and bring your homeworld back? If you answered: build spaceships, then you need to listen to this episode right now!

This week it’s all about Witch Mountain. We’re not only going to ‘Escape To Witch Mountain’ but we’re going to ‘Race To Witch Mountain’ as well! We’ll dissect the original Disney classic, with all it’s 1975-ness as well as the updated version starring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Jonson. Which includes 85% more action sequences, alien assassins and logical plot devices! Sadly, it has has 100% less harmonica.

Tune in your telekinesis, because we can already see you’re remembering something. Let’s get witchy, baby!

104 – TRON

Way back in 1982 we really knew nothing about computers, and that was extremely evident when the TRON was released. But the idea of there being living, active, human like programs living in there was something that we as kids loved. With Flynn and TRON fighting the MCP, the super cool lightcycles, and the use of actual computer generated effects it was hard not to duct tape your frisbee to your back and pretend your bike was leaving a wall of solid light behind it. Toss in the arcade game and you had an entire summer to simmer in TRONish goodness.

Come 2010, we know how computers work, digital effects are commonplace, and we don’t even know where our frisbees are. Then TRON: Legacy gets released, giving us another look into the Grid, and with it the obligatory video games and toys. Does the story hold? Do we still love the idea of programs existing as beings in our hard drives? Do we still have a data disk taped to our back?

Find out this week in the TRON show!

98- Predators

The flash of a three sided laser, the growl, and that shimmer as the forest moves just a bit….you’re being hunted, and we’re all going to die.

YAY! It’s time for the Predators show! Back in 87, Arnold fought the alien hunter in the forests of South America, and lived. In 2010, Adrien Brody (?!) fights the Predators on an alien planet and…well…spoilers for a 5 year old movie?

Join the guys as they smear mud on themselves for no good reason, almost lose some fingers making a bow out of branches, and pretty much realizes that we’d last about as long as a stick of butter in the desert if put up against the PREDATORS!
